Every business which stands out prominently from other similar businesses is due to concentration on a definite plan. The principle is adopting a definite plan and then sticking to it till the end.

Don’t have too many half-backed ideas just to discard all of them before they have been fairly tested. It is not the man who merely ‘starts’ a thing who succeeds. It is the fellow who starts and ‘finishes’ in spite of the situation against him. Once you have a sound plan, just stick to it, and perform it from start to finish and nothing under the sun should divert your efforts before finishing every task you begin.

The man who accuses the world of not giving him a chance to succeed in his chosen work seldom finds his name in ‘Who’s Who’. Whatever energy you have in that head of yours, release it via ‘Action’ by applying the principle of concentration to the tasks which, if finished, would place you on the list of those who are regarded as successes. Identify that habit of yours which retards your effort to concentrate on the action as it is detrimental to your welfare. The habit may be as silly as smoking or daydreaming.

Method: Do not expect to become skilful at the concentration at the very first attempt. Learn first to concentrate on the trivial things you do – sharpening of a pencil, wrapping a package, addressing an email and so forth.

The way to attain perfection is to form the habit of doing this in connection with every task you perform, no matter how small.
