A great journalist Herbert Bayard Swope who was the winner of the first Pulitzer Prize for Reporting in 1917 said, ” I cannot give you a surefire formula for success . But I can give you a formula for failure “.

So, what is the formula for failure? According to Herbart Bayard Swope, ” Try to please everybody all the time ” will lead you to fail. So, what is failure? Failure is defined as a lack of success or the inability to meet the expectations of others.

Whenever we are trying to achieve something in life, that means we are trying to meet the expectations of others. It is very hard to please everybody all the time. When you are not able to please everybody or fulfil their expectations, you are dumped as a failure. So, failure is a subjective term. It is defined by the degree of expectations of others. How much degrees of expectation you meet out, determines whether you are successful or failure.

To conclude, to avoid failure, keep the expectations of others low. If you do not try to please everybody all the time, there will be no expectations of others from you. So, there will be no failureness from your side.
